My zombie horror books took shape in my head decades ago when I was attending college. The sprawling campus was absolutely beautiful and quite scenic during the day with its wide-open spaces and abundance of greenness, but as dusk fell and the dark of night ushered in, it became isolated and eerie. Anyway…
To avoid turning into a zombie during boring lectures, my fondest thoughts were always about the radio station. It helped pull me out of my shell, and it’s where I established a close-knit group of friends.
But that’s not to say the radio station didn’t include its own kind of terror, especially during my long, lonely walks from my dorm room. Hearing strange noises in the wee hours of the morning’s hazy first light made my heart beat faster and fueled my own imagination of what horrors lurked in the shadows
These experiences gave me the inspiration to write the Jane Zombie Chronicles.
